TOP TEN RULES TO CRACK STATE CIVIL SERVICES
State civil services are not much different than UPSC ( Or Central Civil Services ) , Only difference is that in State Civil Services Exams .
1. We need to Study State Level General Knowledge / General Studies /State Budget / State Census/ State Current Affairs in addition to whatever we read for UPSC ( Pan- India level General Studies ) , although level of State PCS/PSC Exams is different from UPSC ( because in UPSC , more emphasis is given on Basic Concepts / Understandings , but in State PCS/PSC's , more emphasis on Facts ( direct questions asked which have/had some relevence to the particular State .e.g. in MPPSC , one question came which asked date of bhopal gas tragedy ,because Bhopal Gas tragedy is very much important in MP history , so We need to Focus on State Facts / State GK ) .
2. In State Level Exams ,Static GK / Current GK Facts are more often asked .
3. e.g suppose If one is going for UPPCS Exams then he need to study UP ( UP General Knowledge / UP Static GK Facts / UP Geography / UP History /UP art and culture / UP Economy etc.
4.For State PSC/PCS Exams , we don't need very deep understanding of current affairs , instead we should Focus on Facts .e.g. If Asian Games are going on , then one must focus on Asian Games Facts like When was ASIAN games Started ? 5. Focus Static GK Facts on Books/Writers/ Wars/Treaties / Committees- Name ,Year ,Purpose.
6. Focus Important Days/ Important Years and their importance .
7. Focus on State Budget / Important Schemes / Gist of State Economic Survey ( latest )
8. Focus on State -Census facts ( Latest ) + Religion Based Census ( if applicable ) .
9. Bring State Map and start watching State -Physical and political Map ( whenever possible , try to paste map into your study place so that whenever you move or your concentration breaks , you may watch map ) and start Studying State Geographical features (like mountain ranges / Plateau / Flora and fauna -State animal/ state bird /State Symbol etc / National Parks and Wildlife sanctuaries in particular State ) , Important historical Facts related to particular ( Important Leaders associated with freedom struggle from state ,important events occured in ancient times , Kingdoms ruled that state and Important Battles / wars happened in that state ) . State Economy Facts ( main Staple food in that state + % contribution of Primary , secondary , tertiary sector in state's economy --can be understood by Latest Economic Survey of that State ).
